The OBX® Marathon:
What the OBX® Marathon is doing to be more 'Green-Friendly':
For our 2006 and 2007 events, we used:
- Online registration.
- Email vs. U.S. mail.
- Reused mile markers, banners, signage, etc.
- Biodegradable Porto Potty supplies.
- Used course bikes in lieu of pace cars.
- Had participant shuttle service.
- Silverware instead of plastic for pasta party.
- Organic cotton retail shirts and recycled tech shirts.
- Reusable race bags and dry bags.
- On site recycling water/Gatorade bottles.
- Shoe and clothing donation.
- No race bag inserts, other than race program and samples such as band aids, hair ties, etc.
