The Willamette Valley 30K Walk n' Relay
What The Willamette Valley 30K Walk n’ Relay is doing to be more 'Green-Friendly':- Less drive time and fuel use. Unlike some long distance events, with vans following along with participants, our event takes place on the beautiful bike paths of Alton Baker Park. The only traffic is foot traffic!
- Recycling and composting on site. We've teamed up with Waste Free Oregon to help us with this goal.
- All race collateral is printed on paper manufactured from 100% post consumer waste with soy-based inks! We are also trying to do as much communication via the Internet as possible and offer online registration.
- Bulk water distribution. Bring your own bottle - and fill it up at water stations. Please remember (if you bring plastic water bottles) use the recycling bins at the HUB to dispose of them. We will also provide a limited supply of bio-cups.
- No plastic race bags. All of your race information, bibs and perks will come clipped together, eliminating the need for a plastic bag.
- Recycled Glass Medals! Our finisher medals are being handmade from 100% recycled glass. Much thanks to Aurora Glass in Eugene, OR for providing socially responsible architectural and ornamental glass.
About The Willamette Valley 30K Walk n' Relay:
The Willamette Valley 30K Walk n’ Relay is a variation on the long distance Relay. To eliminate the need for gas guzzling team vans and lessen the stress of walking in traffic, our course is completely enclosed within the bike paths of Alton Baker Park. The 30K route is split into six different loops, all beginning and ending at a Central Hub. Come walk solo or as a team for a great day of fun, challenge, camaraderie, & safety - Bring your friends, family, & associates and take on the challenge.
If you enjoy long distance walking, you can do the 30 km (18.6 miles) as a solo walking performance. If you prefer the dynamics of teamwork, you may select team sizes of two to six members. Not up for a long distance event? Try the shorter 10K Walk/Run event. You may participate in the competitive division, or the non-competitive Walk Our Way.
